Top Six Tuesday: World’s I Wouldn’t Want to Live In

b346e-toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly/feature meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

The Broke and the Bookish decided to do this week’s meme as Top 10 world’s you wouldn’t want to live in. To be honest I never even considered what worlds I wouldn’t want to live in. I mean who wouldn’t want to live at Hogwarts or visit Narnia?! Never has it crossed my mind that there might be places I wouldn’t want to live! I tried to come up with 10 places but only managed to come up with 6.

1- On the Island in Megan Shepard’s The Madman’s Daughter. The island has some creepy stuff going on and I don’t think I would ever want to live in that world. Not to mention what her father is doing- NO THANK YOU!

The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1)

2- In the fairytale from John Connolly’s The Book of Lost Things. Given that the fairytale’s seem to be made up of things that David fears, I would DREAD seeing what would be in my fairytale world- Snakes and Spiders and YUCK!!

3- In the world of Delirium by Lauren Oliver. A world where love doesn’t exist, like no love at all?! I can’t even imagine what it would be like to live in this sort of world!

4- In the Hunger Games from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I can barely survive in the cold of winter in Canada, never mind in a world operated by other people AND with other contestants trying to kill me. I mean I did survive a few years in the woods with a version of “boy scouts” but I didn’t have anyone trying to attack me!

5- In the Republic of Gilead from Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. I would not want to be a handmaid or a “Martha” or any woman living in this book. Not being able to live freely and having to hope that the Commander impregnates you? I can only imagine. I think I’ll pass on this world.

6- In the time of John Boyne’s The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I know that this world once did exist, and I can only imagine how terrible it was to live during this time. I would never want to live in this world.
