For fans of One Day, What Alice Forgot, and the hit film Sliding Doors, comes an absorbing and surprising debut novel about a young woman who, after an accident, gets a second chance at life . . . just not in one she remembers.
Rachel Wiltshire has everything she’s ever wanted: a close group of friends, a handsome boyfriend, and acceptance to the journalism program at her top-choice college. But one fateful evening, tragedy tears her world apart.
Five years later, Rachel returns home for the first time to celebrate her best friend’s wedding. Still coping with her grief, she can’t stop thinking about the bright future she almost had, if only that one night had gone differently. But when a sudden fall lands her in the hospital, Rachel wakes to find that her life has completely changed. Now she has her dream job as a writer and a stylish apartment, but the people she loves most are not the way she remembers them. Unable to trust her own recollections, Rachel tries to piece together what really happened, and not even she can predict the astonishing truth.

If you are looking for a cute summer read, then this is the book. I really enjoyed reading Then and Always and didn’t want to put it down. I love books that take on multiple perspectives or have different options for the main character, and this book did that beautifully. It’s always interesting to see how the main character changes with knowledge of a different possibility.
The characters were really great and my heart when out to Rachel throughout the book. I felt like she had had it tough in life, and just wanted to be friends with her and let her know she could always cry on my shoulder. I also really liked Jimmy and thought he was a really outstanding guy- one that is really hard to come by. It’s hard not to root for Rachel and Jimmy, you want them to have the life they always dreamed of. Rachel gets a second chance and you really hope that as you turn the pages she will end up with everything she always wanted.
While reading this book you go through a multitude of emotions- laughing, crying, smiling… and you just want everything to work out. It is a fantastic romantic book, but isn’t shmultzie.
This book is definitely worth a read, you will fall in love with it and won’t want to put it down.
